Nobody likes to fail. For some people, that fear is so strong that it even prevents them from starting (in time), or you can't stop going over your work. Do you recognize that? Don’t worry; you’re not the only one, and you can do something about it.
Fear of failure is a common form of stress among students. In this training, you will learn what it is, where it comes from and how to deal with it.
Don’t be afraid to fail. Instead, dare to succeed!

Everyone's fear is different
In this course, you will dive into your own fear of failure. Did you know everyone’s fear is different? Discover what causes these ‘bears on the road’ to appear between you and your goals? Also, you will learn how to cope with the stress and anxiety caused by it.
Fear of failure can hinder both your study and your well-being. Maybe you have blackouts during exams, you procrastinate or work too long or too hard. It may cause tension, worries and poor sleep, which affects your well-being.
Reality check: this training will not take away your fear. Instead, we help you to to get a grip on your anxiety.
For whom is this training?
WUR Students who experience fear of failure and want to work on this. Fear of failure can - but does not have to - be related to perfectionism.
About this training
The training consists of 4 sessions:
- Why do we fear failure, biology of anxiety, stress, what does your fear of failure look like?
- Dare to succeed, deal with unhelpful thoughts
- Focus & unwinding
- Yourself and other people; achievements and qualities

About the trainer
This training is given by Michel Kropman - ACT Coach & Skills trainer.
Michel started his scientific career with a PhD in physics, but quickly switched to business consultancy and working all over the world as an outdoor hiking guide.
He has worked at the University in different roles from 2014. Starting as policy advisor, he is currently teaching several Skills courses, working with MSc students in the Academic Consultancy Training, and training students to become more effective (and happy) in their studies.
